Roco Kingdom Best Team: Builds and Comps

Roco Kingdom best team and build guide for the beta: role slots, element coverage, starter cores and the mistakes that cost fights.

Last Updated: 2026-10-27

Quick answer: a good Roco Kingdom team is built around roles and coverage, not around six copies of the strongest Jini. The Chinese build uses a six-slot party, and the beta keeps that structure. Start with one damage lead, one element answer, one bulky pivot and one support, then fill the last two slots with whatever your region demands. Because the 18-element chart is symmetric, every attacker is also a weakness — the best team is the one whose weaknesses are covered by its own partners.

Beta disclaimer

Exact stats, moves and held-item effects are not published globally. These comps are built from documented roles, elements and availability, and they are meant to be tested, not copied as a finished ladder list.

The Four Roles

Every team needs the same four jobs covered before it needs a fifth damage dealer.

Role Job What to look for
Lead / tempo Wins the first two turns and forces a switch High early pressure, cheap attacks, a element that threatens common leads
Coverage answer Handles the element your lead loses to At least one attacking option that hits the lead's counters
Pivot / tank Takes a hit and lets you reposition Resistances, recovery, or a switch-friendly kit
Support / control Keeps the team alive or slows the opponent Healing, buffs, debuffs, sleep or speed control

Two flex slots then cover the region you are exploring, a boss mechanic, or a second win condition.

Core 1 — Fire / Water / Earth

The classic triangle, and still the easiest core to build in the beta.

  • Huohua (Fire) leads. Fire pressures Flora, Ice and Insect, which are common in the starting provinces.
  • Shuilanlan (Water) answers the Fire and Earth Jinies that threaten Huohua.
  • An Earth body rounds out the core, checking Electric and Fire while giving you a switch-in against fast attackers.

The weakness is obvious: the same triangle that covers you can be turned against you. If the opponent leads Water into Huohua, do not stay in and trade — switch to Shuilanlan or your Earth slot. The core works because each member covers the others, not because any one of them is unbeatable.

Core 2 — Light / Spectral

Light and Spectral are the two elements players underestimate most often. They are not as common in the opening hours, which means fewer opponents bring an answer.

  • Dimo (Light) is a flexible anchor and one of the six officially showcased Jinies.
  • A Spectral partner covers the Psychic-adjacent matchups Light struggles with and gives you a second angle in boss fights.

This core is slower to assemble because Spectral Jinies appear later. It rewards players who explore the ruins and temple regions instead of rushing the story. See the regions guide for where those areas sit.

Core 3 — Flora / Wing / Support

A stall-leaning core for players who prefer long fights.

  • Molimiao (Flora) is the reliable early carry.
  • A Wing Jini gives you a fast answer to Flora and Martial.
  • A support slot keeps the core healthy through multi-wave fights.

This comp is weaker in timed content and stronger in boss fights where you can set up. It also punishes mistakes less, which makes it a good learning team.

Coverage Rules That Matter More Than Tiers

  1. Do not stack three of the same element. Symmetric weaknesses mean one opponent can break the whole team.
  2. Cover your lead's weakness first. A team with perfect late-game coverage but no answer to its own lead loses turn one.
  3. Prefer two-element coverage over raw power. A Jini that hits two common elements is worth more than one that hits one element slightly harder.
  4. Keep one slot for the region. Bosses and elites often demand a specific resistance; the boss reference lists what each one does.

Sample Six-Slot Setup

A practical beta team that uses only documented Jinies:

Slot Jini Role
1 Huohua Fire lead, early tempo
2 Shuilanlan Water answer, Fire check
3 Molimiao Flora carry, reliable damage
4 Dimo Light pivot, flexible coverage
5 Vargyr Physical pressure / second win condition
6 A support or control Jini Healing, debuffs, safety

This is not a claim that these six are the strongest. It is a team with no shared one-element hole, two independent win conditions and a support slot that can be swapped for a boss-specific answer.

Build Mistakes to Avoid

  • Building six attackers. You will win the first fight and lose the second.
  • Ignoring the support slot. A healer or controller turns two close fights into wins.
  • Investing evenly. The beta is short; pick two carries and keep the rest functional.
  • Chasing tier lists. A B-tier Jini that covers your team's weakness is worth more than an S-tier duplicate.
  • Forgetting the wipe. Do not grind for a perfect build that disappears at the end of the test.

FAQ

How many Jinies are in a team? The Chinese build uses six slots, and the global beta follows the same party structure. The exact unlock pace is beta-tuned.

What is the best team in Roco Kingdom? There is no single best team. Fire/Water/Earth is the easiest core to assemble, Light/Spectral has fewer answers in the early meta, and Flora/Wing is the most forgiving for new players.

Do I need a healer? Not for the first province, but yes for multi-wave boss fights. A support slot saves more runs than a sixth damage dealer.

Are builds permanent? No. The beta wipes, and balance changes can invalidate a comp between patches.
