Roco Kingdom Trading: Why There Is No Player Market

Roco Kingdom has no player-to-player trading. What replaces it: the travelling merchant, Roco Coins and account-bound items.

Last Updated: 2026-10-27

Quick answer: Roco Kingdom does not have player-to-player trading. There is no trade window, no auction house, no player shop and no way to mail items or Jinies to another account. The economy runs through NPC vendors, and the most important one is the travelling merchant, who restocks four times a day.

What Replaced Trading

Tencent built the economy around three NPC systems:

  1. Vendors — fixed shops in towns, selling balls, food and basic materials.
  2. The travelling merchant — a rotating stock with rare materials, appearing on a schedule.
  3. Crafting — recipes convert gathered ingredients into the items vendors do not sell.

The design goal is visible: every item has an NPC source, so no item is gated behind another player. That removes the scam economy that plagues creature games with open trading, at the cost of removing the social market too.

No workaround

Dropping an item and having a friend pick it up does not work. Dropped items are instanced to the player who dropped them, and eggs and Jinies are account-bound from the moment they exist.

The Travelling Merchant

The merchant is the closest thing to a market. Stock rotates on a fixed schedule:

Refresh Server time
First 08:00
Second 12:00
Third 16:00
Fourth 20:00

Each refresh has a small random stock, and the rare slot can include evolution materials, high-tier balls and recipe components. Stock is per-visit: if you miss a refresh, the item is gone.

The merchant appears at fixed points, including the Merchant Town bazaar. The exact location rotates between a handful of stalls, and the map marks it when it is active.

Currency

Roco Coins are the only currency in the global test. They come from:

  • Quest rewards
  • NPC battles
  • Selling junk items to vendors
  • Research milestones

There is no premium currency in the test because there are no purchases. The Chinese build has a shop currency, but it is not part of the global beta.

What Is Account-Bound

Item type Tradeable?
Jinies No
Eggs No
Equipment and held items No
Consumables No
Cosmetics No
Currency No

Everything is bound. The only sharing that exists is co-op participation: party members get their own rewards from a shared kill, not a split of one drop.

Why This Matters for Guides

A lot of generic creature-game advice assumes a market: buy low, sell high, flip eggs, trade duplicates. None of it applies here. The correct mental model is a single-player economy with optional co-op, where the only scarcity is time and respawn timers.

That also means:

  • Duplicate Jinies are release fodder, not trade stock.
  • The merchant is worth checking, but not worth hoarding coins for.
  • Lord drops are personal; you cannot buy bloodline from another player.
  • "Best item to sell" lists are meaningless — there is no buyer.

Safety and Scams

Because there is no trade system, any "trade" offer is a scam by definition. Common attempts:

  • Asking you to log into a "trading site" with your account
  • Offering a "dupe" service for rare Jinies
  • Selling beta accounts, which violates the test terms and cannot be transferred
  • Fake merchant timers that lead to phishing pages

The official game never asks for your password outside the launcher, and there is no web trading portal. The beta FAQ covers account rules.

What to Do Instead

  • Spend coins on balls and evolution materials, not cosmetics.
  • Check the merchant at each refresh for the rare slot.
  • Farm lords for bloodline instead of looking for a seller.
  • Breed duplicates for nature and moves, then release the rest.
  • Use co-op to share the time cost, not the loot.

FAQ

Can you trade in Roco Kingdom? No. There is no player-to-player trading, auction house or mail.

Is there an auction house? No. Vendors are NPCs and stock is not player-supplied.

Can I give my friend a Jini? No. Jinies are account-bound.

When does the merchant restock? Four times a day, around 08:00, 12:00, 16:00 and 20:00 server time.

Will trading be added at launch? Tencent has not announced it. The current design has no trade UI.
