Roco Kingdom Regions: Provinces, Towns and Landmarks
A tour of Roco Kingdom's regions by role: the starting province, the capital district, the merchant town, the canyon, the temples and the endgame citadel.
Quick answer: the map is divided into 100 named locations — 44 spawn zones plus 56 towns, buildings and landmarks — grouped into provinces and districts. The story starts in Windrest Province, moves through Merchant Town and Lightsheir, then opens the eastern coast, Giant's Canyon and the endgame Citadel. This page groups the locations by what they are for, so you can tell a shop town from a dungeon at a glance.

Only the 44 spawn zones hold wild Jinies. The other 56 locations are towns, buildings and landmarks — you visit them for vendors, quests and fast travel, not for catching.
How Regions Differ
Roco Kingdom does not gate regions behind loading screens. Every zone is part of one continuous map, and the differences are functional:
- Provinces hold the main story chapters and the widest level bands.
- Towns hold vendors, inns, quest givers and the wardrobe.
- Landmarks are single-purpose sites: temples, factories, ruins, prisons.
- Spawn zones are the wild areas between them, listed in full on the map guide.
That means "region" in this game usually means a province plus its hub town, not a separate map.
Windrest Province — The Starting Region
Windrest is the tutorial province and the first place the story sends you. It contains:
- Breeze Valley — the opening spawn zone, 14 recorded species, mostly Wing and Common types
- Windrun, Windrun Farms and Windrun Mesa — the farming settlements around the starter hub
- Windrest Mountain and Windrest Sanctuary — the higher-elevation zones north of the valley
- Wingstead Village — a small settlement with only four wild species nearby
- Windseer Peninsula and Windhold Cliffs — the coastal edge of the province
The province is designed to teach capture, battle and the daily loop. Nothing here is high level, and the spawn table is small enough to complete the local dex quickly.
Merchant Town — Vendors and the Academy Outpost
Merchant Town is the commercial hub and the closest thing to a player city. It is split into Merchant Town East, West and Outskirts, with the Bazaar Outskirts spawn zone holding 23 species.
What is here:
- The main vendor street, including the travelling merchant spawn point
- The Academy Outpost, the first major story base
- The Dizzy Mug Tavern and Royal Guesthouse
- Petyr's Alchemy Works, tied to the crafting and recipe system
- Tartpeach Plaza and Golden Alley, the social spaces
If a guide tells you to "go to town" for an item, this is usually the town it means.
Lightsheir — The Capital District
Lightsheir is the largest urban area: Lightsheir, Central Lightsheir, Diplomatic District, Royal Office, Victory Boulevard and the Court of Lumina. It is the political centre of the map and the location of several story chapters.
Around it are the Sunken District, East District Factory and West District Factory, which are industrial zones rather than shopping areas. The Lightlord's Sanctuary sits at the edge of the district and is a story landmark.
Lightsheir itself is a spawn zone with 34 recorded species, one of the densest urban tables in the game.
The Eastern Coast
The east side of the map is water-heavy:
- Moonvale Shores and Moonveil Fishing Camp — the lake shore, 34 species
- Moonhare's Harbor — the harbour and airship dock
- Saltwater Bay, Sunflower Shores and Seaweard Hills — coastal spawn zones
- The Bubbling Shoal and The Sunken Vortex — underwater and vortex sites
- Silversnake Estuary and Murkwater Gorge — the river inlets
Water and Wing species dominate here. The coast is also where the fishing and diving systems are introduced.
Crystal Forest and the North
Crystal Forest (also labelled Crystallized Forest) is a 32-species zone with a distinct crystalline look. Nearby are Starfrost Cliffs, Mount Dawncrest, Mount Mistwhisper, West Mistwhisper and Froston, a cold-weather belt that introduces Ice species.
The northern belt is the best place to fill Ice entries, and it is where the beta's weather system is most visible.
Giant's Canyon — The Dragon Arc
Giant's Canyon North and South are the two densest spawn zones in the game at 39 and 35 species. The canyon connects to:
- Throne of Giants — the story landmark at the top
- Chittering Mesa and Hawk Lookout — the surrounding high ground
- Badwater Swamps and Black Swamp — the lowland approach
This is the region tied to the dragon story arc and the legendary encounters described in the legendary guide. It is a late-game area; do not walk in at the level you finish Windrest.
Temples, Sanctuaries and Ruins
Several landmarks exist mainly for a single system:
| Landmark | Likely purpose |
|---|---|
| Holyfeathers Temple / Shrine | Wing-guardian story site |
| Unicorn Sanctuary | Rare spawn and story site |
| Lightlord's Sanctuary | Light-element story site |
| Well of Wonders | Collection or puzzle site |
| Ancient Airways | Ruins and a 22-species spawn zone |
| Seaside Ruins | Coastal ruins |
| Kingdom Prison | Story dungeon |
| The Citadel | Endgame stronghold |
The word "likely" is deliberate: Tencent has not published a purpose for every landmark, and the beta does not label dungeons on the map.
The Endgame: The Citadel and Overseer's Heights
The Citadel is the smallest spawn zone at six species, which usually signals a story-only area. Overseer's Heights, The Fief and Bounty Valley form the high-level ring around it. This is where the last chapters and the toughest territorial lords sit.
